WOMEN AT LIBERTY Blog -7-14-11

WOMEN AT LIBERTY sends, via Facebook and Twitter, daily motivational messages to inspire you.  Click the link above to get the most current message or see below for the most popular message posted last week:
"We were in a position where my husband had been sworn into office during a very, very difficult time. There had been so much cover-up during Watergate that we wanted to be sure there would be no cover-up in the Ford Administration. So rather than continue this traditional silence about breast cancer, we felt we had to be public."

--Mrs. Betty Ford, First Lady of the United States (1974-1977), Wife of U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, Co-Founder of the Betty Ford Center (previously the Betty Ford Clinic), Breast Cancer Survivor

Leadership Tuesdays’ goal is to provide a platform for a variety of voices and resources to develop, encourage, and strengthen women leaders.

In the very first introduction to Leadership Tuesdays, a quote from the book, Becoming A Leader (2009), by Myles Monroe was used to illustrate one of the key premises of this program:   Everyone has the potential to lead.  Dr. Munroe stated that, “there is a leader in everyone waiting to serve his or her generation." This quote helps to dispel the myth that only certain people can be leaders and supports the thinking that people must discover and cultivate their innate leadership abilities and styles.
Although we cannot all be leaders at the same time, at any given moment in life we may be called upon to lead. Further, as Vashti McKenzie states in this short inspirational message, we must examine ourselves for self-sabotage and excuses.  Next,

WOMEN AT LIBERTY BLOG | Can You Spot A Liar and A Single Mom's Journey to Motherhood

Hello Everyone,

Happy Thursday to you!  I believe everyone gets annoyed with liars.  But, do you have the skills to spot one, a real good one?  In this week’s Leadership Tuesday's video, “Liespotting”, from author, Pamela Meyer, she gives clues on how to tell when someone is lying.  The objective is "...moving from liespotting to truth seeking to trust building."

Also, in April Kelly Green shared a series of stories about the “Single, Successful, Mature Women’s Dilemma”.  Several courageous women who are struggling to realize their dreams of having a family and children told us their stories. In the most recent blog, a single mom, who read Kelly’s story, tells her story of going on the motherhood journey alone.  Read, enjoy and feel free to give your feedback.
